Our Profile

PHP Active CIC was formed through bringing together the specialist backgrounds and expertise of the companies two primary Directors.

Mark Haig worked within NHS Public Health for 16 years before setting up his own company Haig Associates Ltd that worked with a range of public, private and volunatry organisations in the area of public health. Mark was also a Director of Healthworks a company specialising in workplace health and wellbeing, before being appointed Head of Operations for Liverpool FC Foundation where he took a particular interest in the development of specific programmes on professional sport and community health, men’s health and military veterans.

Mike Parker worked within the local authority specializing on physical activity and health before becoming a public health practitioner with the NHS. Mike went on to establish a public health consultancy, HM Partnerships CIC which saw him specialize in projects across Europe focusing on health and wellbeing at a policy and programme level, including the development of the European Healthy Stadia Programme and programmes targeting health and Wellbeing Training for disaffected young people.

Mark and Mike went on to establish Progress Health Partnerships Ltd in 2013, where Mike operates as Managing Director – leading on many public health consultancy commissions across Europe, such as research, health needs assessments, joint strategic needs assessments, policy appraisal and project evaluation. Clients have included organisations such as NHS England, local authorities, education providers, Groundwork, Sporta, Leisure and NHS Trusts, professional sport clubs and Community Foundations.

Due to the success of delivering this consultancy the company were increasingly being asked to design and deliver specific programmes and activities within local communities and wider than the traditional public health consultancy service we offered. This resulted in the formation of PHP Active as our Not for Profit Community Interest Company supporting people and communities ‘to be the best they can be’
